Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent for NBC News two year later. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for Congress. She was appointed chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy stories such as arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to various summits while in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
